Winchester Festival opening concert

In a year rich in musical anniversaries, it is fitting to open this year’s Festival with two Haydn masterpieces with English connections, including his most glorious setting of the Mass. Perfect contrast is provided by Mozart’s everpopular setting of the Vespers, with its lovely Laudate Dominum. The majestic setting of the Cathedral provides an ideal stage for this concert, with Winchester’s own Waynflete Singers and Florilegium guaranteeing a curtainraiser that will prove very popular.

Mozart - Vesperae Solennes de confessore, K339
Haydn - Missa in Angustiis (Nelson Mass)
Haydn Symphony No 104 'London'Katherine Fuge soprano
Pamela Helen Stephen mezzo-soprano
Thomas Hobbs tenor
Tim Mirfin bass
Conductor: Andrew Lumsden

Tickets from £32.75 to £10.75 from Winchester Cathedral Box Office or 01962 857275
